Tesla selecting additional information
Tesla additional information details

Getting hold of the additional information about your car including the detailed configuration taken from Teslas option codes has become increasingly difficult. If you enter your token we can query the API for you however the information that is currently returned by Tesla is now wrong, all such services have the same problem. We will return what information we can using this method but this unfortunately won't help with items such as the supercharging status.

You can alternatively log into your Tesla account and click on ViewDetails for the chosen car, on this page you will see some basic information about your car, however whether free supercharging is transferable or not etc is less obvious. To get more information you need to examine the HTML and select the configuration codes that follow the word 'OptionCodes' in the text. Copy these codes and drop then into the bottom box on this page. We will convert each option code that we recognise, one of which are typically the supercharging status. Tesla change the layout of this regularly however the option code string is usually always embedded somewhere. A typical option code string will look like 'AD15, AF02A, AH00, APBS...' or for later cars '$AD15, $AH00, $APBS...'.

For details on free supercharging see our longer guide on free supercharging in conjunction with using this page.

There are a number of third party apps out there that all work in similar ways using your Tesla credentials and/or token. We believe you need to be very cautious before giving any of your details to anyone, and we recommend you don't. While we offer the facility to query your car, we only allow the use of a Token and have provided details on how to generate this below. NEVER enter your email and password into a website other than the Tesla one. This will potentially give away the ability to access your online Tesla account, access to your car location and information, open your car, and potentially even drive it away.

You can generate this for yourself using the details at the bottom of this page.

To get your Tesla token on a Windows computer without calling any 3rd party servers, open notepad, create a token.ps1 file and copy the following text exchanging your email and password where indicated. Save the file, right click on the file name and use 'Run with Powershell'. This will execute the command on your computer calling the Tesla servers directly (the website is owned by Tesla) and place the result in the output.txt file. You should find 'access_token' followed by a long string, this is your token.
Tesla have retired this API as part of the security changes. Getting a token is now more complicated and while tighter security is a good thing, we worry that more people will now provide their user name and password to 3rd party apps.

This method is now out of date, we will update it when we have found a reliable and easy way for users to safely generate their own tokens.
