Tesla model history and all the changes by year

Over the years Tesla have made numerous changes to the car design and model line up. We've tried to capture the history of each of the key changes and in which year they occurred. The exact date is of little benefit as the transition is often blurred with cars appearing in different parts of the word with the old specification after announcements of change, and even linking the changes to VIN numbers is flawed as Tesla do not appear to build in strict VIN order.

We've only highlighted the main model and battery changes, Tesla have temporarily made some unusual configurations for example the Model 3 Performance for a while was sold as performance LR with the performance pack as an option, some called this a P- model.

There is a history of a lot of changes as Tesla have not until recently done model years and we may have made a mistake or missed a key change, feel free to email us with any errors and we'll happily take a look and see if we agree. We're also only recording the history of when features actually arrive, not when they are announced or promised.
